Book Review: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

Perhaps the hype around this book increased my expectations from it. I did a quick read of this book long back and didn't like it for the drag I felt it was. I would have rated this 1/5 back then.

I started to re-read this book this time around because I have it in my bookshelf and wanted to give it a try again. And this time around I would rate it 3/5 although my opinion on it being a drag and that it could have been condensed much didn't change. The 3 points it scores is for thought process and perspectives it brings to the reader on how different people see same things differently while elucidating the need for rational thinking in his narration. I should also mention that the subject at times will be both very abstract and heavy, making you re-read it, and ponder about it before you move ahead. Not all philosophy books that I read thus far, for self-help and self-reflection are this abstract as this book. You have been warned before you lay your hands on this book for reading it thinking you can get done with it over the weekend.
